SEEDROUND: Where It All Starts

Feature Request – Spoiler Alert

With Tivo, always-on web access and the delayed Olympic broadcasts, I think every site needs to implement a spoiler alert feature.  I’ve mocked it up below.

I’ve accidentally seen all the major Olympics results before I could watch it.

This is one of the things that web media companies have yet to get a handle on.

I have a subscription to NFL games online. They run simultaneously and, if you watch them on television, only one game will be shown. The commentators have build up techniques for updating viewers about the games they are not able to watch.

The whole concept falls apart when you’ve paid for an online subscription. I can watch every single game as if live during the week, yet I still get the same style commentary as television watchers get – the commentary with all the spoilers in it. The same goes for the half time show.

My online viewing dashboard has a little button that hides scores if I am tracking multiple games simultaneously, but it is made redundant by the commentary.
